The North East Oregon Aviation Foundation was founded by local pilots and interested citizens to advance aeronautics education in Wallowa County. Since its inception, our very own Joseph Charter School has become one of only 30 high schools in the nation to offer the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) curriculum for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).

This pilot program was developed in response to a growing need for aviation workers in the areas such as airport management, mechanics, aircraft design, welding, traffic control, navigation and many other positions within aeronautics.

A recent grant awarded to Joseph Charter School will support construction of a large building, housing an area for students to work and perfect their craft in creating such items as simulators, planes and gliders. Currently progress is being made on building a super Goat Glider and Zenith CH 601.

What a rare and exciting opportunity for our youth!

The upcoming Wallowa County Fly-In brings a variety of planes and pilots to our area with upwards of 1,200-1,400 in attendance. NEOAF utilizes this event to support the aviation program and their vision of bringing aeronautic courses to ALL Wallowa County high schools.

Prior years funding have provided continuing aviation education and scholarships for flying lessons, the Learn-to-Fly program, and ACE Academy. Your support is instrumental in keeping these programs alive.
